Our weather feels like winter. The first day of spring is just over a week away (March 20th). Daylight Savings Time starts on Sunday. (Psst…don’t forget to turn your clocks forward an hour.) But it is never too early to start thinking about summer. Atlantic City hosted its annual boat show last weekend to get you in the summertime mindset. But to gain any access to our local beaches starting on Memorial Day weekend, you need to show your Jersey Shore beach badges. Find out where and how to get yours right now.
How to Purchase Your 2022 Jersey Shore Beach Badges
Margate Beach Badges
2022 Margate beach badges are on sale right now. For the best rates, buy them before the end of business on May 31st. Pay just $10 per badge for ages 12 and older. Seniors pay only $3.50 per badge. On June 1st, prices increase to $20 per badge. Military veterans and active service members receive their badges for free. You just need to provide a military ID when you pick them up. Reserve your badge by filling out a Margate beach badge application and mailing it in to Margate City Hall. They must receive it in their office by May 31st or you have to pay the higher fee for your badges. (Mail received after May 31st but postmarked before it will not be subject to the discount.) You can also pay from your phone via Margate’s Viply app. Starting March 29th, all prepaid reserved badges may be picked up in person at the Martin Bloom Pavilion (near the library in Huntington Park) between 10 am and 3 pm.
Ventnor Beach Badges
2022 Ventnor beach badges are also $10 (ages 12+) or $3.50 (seniors) as long as you purchase them before May 31st. After that, they increase to $20 each. To get your Ventnor badges, the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall accepts payments in person via cash or credit cards. But if you prefer to take care of everything on your phone, download Ventnor’s Viply app. However, if you forget to purchase your badges ahead of Memorial Day weekend, you may also purchase them from the Beach Badge Inspector on the day you visit the beach.
Longport Beach Badges
Like both Margate and Ventnor, Longport badges cost $10 and $3.50 before the end of business on May 31st. However, badge purchases are only available through their app. First, download Longport’s Viply app. Then, purchase your badges. Finally, pick up your physical badge at the Longport Municipal Building before you head out to the beach.
Inspectors will be on hand to check badges before entering any Jersey Shore beach. Anyone caught without one will not be allowed access. Again, you may purchase one from the badge inspector when you visit. But I highly suggest you get yours taken care of before you go to the beach this summer to avoid the hassle.
