Look! Up in the Air. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s the world-famous Thunderbirds and the gang! That’s right, folks. It’s almost time for one of my personal favorite events of the year, the Atlantic City Air Show. Believe me. This is one show you do not want to miss!
What: Atlantic City Air Show 2022

Atlantic City Air Show 2022
I look forward to this show every single year. It’s one of my absolute favorites. There is just nothing quite like listening to the roar of jet engines and watching these amazing pilots in action. And, to be honest, you do not even need to be IN Atlantic City to enjoy the show. While The Boardwalk and Atlantic City beaches provide the best vantage point, the jets fly as far south as Margate and north to Brigantine. So, if you happen to be in those cities in the middle of the day on August 24th, just look up. You may catch a glimpse. The Thunderbirds (USAF) and the Golden Knights (Army) headline the afternoon’s cavalcade of aerial acrobatic stars.
A few quick pointers before you head out. Check the weather beforehand and dress appropriately. There will be no rain dates. Slather on the sunscreen, even if it appears cloudy. Sunglasses and hats also provide welcome relief from the sun’s rays. Bring a chair, blanket, and/or umbrella with you for comfortable viewing no matter where you watch. And a portable radio will help you stay in sync with the entire program. Tune it to 95.5 FM or 1450 AM for a complete visual and auditory experience.
Best Places to View the Show
Unfortunately, several of the VIP viewing locations sold out already. As of the writing of this post, one venue still has tickets available. The VUE Rooftop Bar at The Claridge offers a special lunch buffet and viewing party for $59-$119. Purchase your tickets now, though. They definitely will not last. For those aerial enthusiasts who simply enjoy the show without any added bells and whistles, make the Boardwalk your destination of choice for lunchtime on the 24th. It’s free. And if you decide to take a day off to spend at the beach (any beach along the Jersey shoreline, to be honest), just look up when you hear the jets fly by.
Available Parking
Anyone who has ever visited the Boardwalk area of Atlantic City knows how difficult it can be to find parking. Several of the casinos, the Convention Center, the Tangiers Outlets, and other areas offer parking. For a complete list, visit the Atlantic City Air Show’s website here. When coming from out of town, carpool with your best buddies to reduce how many parking spaces you need. NJ Transit offers direct access via their bus and rail service. In town, hop aboard the AC Jitney.
Help the Animals
Just a reminder. The PBA is accepting donations for Animal Aid USA through the end of August. Drop your donations off at Ventnor City Hall during business hours. Or scan the QR code shown here to make an online donation. Everything helps. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
