As you most likely know by now, you must purchase a tag in order to access any Jersey Shore beach. In fact, anyone visiting a Jersey Shore beach between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend must show beach patrol their tag anytime they are asked to do so. If you buy your badge before June 1st, you receive a huge discount. Wait until after that and you pay double. A Ventnor tag works for a Margate beach and vice versa. Fortunately, there is a Longport beach tag update to make it even easier to purchase.
Longport Beach Tag Update
Previously, you could mail in your request, visit Borough Hall, or pay for them online via the Viply app. However, city officials made it even easier by adding a new way to pay: through their Shopify website. Unlike when you order through the mail or at Borough Hall, you must pay a fee to order on Shopify. But the fee is nominal. You may also purchase a special mug featuring the various entries in the Longport beach tag contest. June 2nd is the last day to purchase a Longport tag at the discounted price.
Longport Beach Patrol
Longport’s beaches are open to the public from 10 am to 6 pm daily for sunbathers, swimming, kayaking, and surfing. Longport beaches open up and will be fully staffed by the beach patrol as follows:
- 16th, 26th, 30th, & 33rd Ave beaches – June 3rd
- 19th, 31st, & 35th Ave beaches – June 10th
- 13th, 21st, 34th, & Pelham Ave beaches – June 17th
- 25th Ave beach – June 24th
If you want to kayak, you can do so between 14th and 15th, 22nd and 23rd, 27th and 29th, and 32nd and 33rd. For surfing, visit the beaches at 12th, 22nd, 28th, and 32nd. The hours for these beaches are the same as for sunbathers.
