Margate schools start up the 2020/2021 school year with in-classroom learning on September 3rd. They submitted their re-opening plan back in July. The governor approved their plan along with the reopening plans of 349 other New Jersey schools. The strictly in-person curriculum offered by the Margate School District worries some parents and kids, too. Jewish Family Services (JFS) wants people to know that they understand and wish to help ease this anxiety. Therefore, they put together three virtual classes to address these issues and assist concerned parents, teachers, and kids in finding positive ways to address these concerns.
JFS Virtual Classes
Jewish Family Services strives to provide assistance to the community in any way possible. That includes food for those in need, counseling services where necessary, and virtual classes. The educational arm of JFS, The Rothenberg Center, put together three separate virtual classes geared specifically towards teachers, parents/grandparents, and students to help them navigate the “new normal” of schooling. If you are interested in attending any of these classes, contact Sharon Simon via email.
For Teachers
We know you’ll be preparing for the new school year early. But, the night before kids head back to the classroom, join The Rothenberg Center for their virtual class about how to work their students in an engaging manner during these unprecedented times. The class takes place from 7 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, September 2nd. Brainstorm with other educational professionals on how to grab hold of kids’ attention and get them to interact effectively with you both in the classroom and through remote learning. Plus, learn ways to juggle work and family life successfully.
For Parents/Grandparents
It’s easy to feel disconnected with friends and family during these crazy COVID-19 times. Reconnecting can be difficult, especially with kids once the school year starts back up. In this 10:30 am to 11:30 am virtual class on Wednesday, September 16th, learn powerful ways to connect with you children/grandchildren. They need your support even more during this stressful time. And you’ll benefit from a healthier relationship with them as well.
For Students
Finally, JFS offers a virtual class for students from 7 pm to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, September 23rd. This class teaches students about the importance of wearing masks and social distancing. (Both of these are part of the Margate School District’s reopening plan.) Plus, discover ways to cope with time away from classrooms and friends for those students continuing with remote learning. All kids benefit from the tips provided to tackle any challenge they face both at school and at home during a global pandemic.
