Does the beach figure prominently in your July 4th weekend plans? Hopefully, you already purchased your badges. You need these in order to enter any Jersey Shore beach. If you missed out on the pre-season sale (ended on June 19th), you can purchase a badge at the Longport Community Building located at 33rd and Atlantic. They cost $30 for anyone aged 12 or older and $10 for seniors. These are good for the entire season. Active military and veterans qualify for a free badge. Just make sure to show your valid ID at time of purchase. They only take cash or checks, no cards. Stop there before you head out to the Longport beach this holiday weekend.
Longport Beach Info
Planning a picnic or barbecue at the beach anytime this weekend? The Longport Police recently issued some important information you need to keep in mind before you start your beach excursion. Both barbecues and picnics will be allowed between 10 am and 8 pm through Sunday evening. Only charcoal barbecues are allowed. Leave your propane at home. And no open flame allowed. Keep grills to no larger than 36″ in diameter. When finished grilling, completely extinguish any briquettes with a healthy dose of water. Then, wrap them up in aluminum foil. Finally, drop them off in any of the trash receptacles located at the beach’s entry point. If receptacles are full, please take them with you and dispose of them at your home. The same thing goes for any trash you create while at the beach. Alcoholic beverages are forbidden on the beach. And please continue to socially distance from other people you don’t live with. Let’s all do our part to keep our beaches clean for everyone to enjoy.
Indoor Dining Postponed by Governor
Were you looking forward to finally going to a restaurant and actually eating inside? Curbside pickup from your favorite restaurants helped tie you over during shelter-in-place orders. But nothing beats the experience of actually sitting down inside of that restaurant. Unfortunately, Governor Murphy put the kibosh on that when he announced an indefinite postponement to indoor dining in any New Jersey restaurant on Monday. This was in direct response to the surge of COVID-19 cases in other states that reopened their indoor dining. Outdoor dining and takeout options remain in place for all restaurants adhering to mandated guidelines. Governor Murphy may look at reopening indoor dining in the future when Coronavirus cases flatten out. Until then, please follow protocols in place at your favorite restaurants.
