Schools open back up on September 3rd. Plans for what that will look like exactly are still being hammered out by the Ventnor and Margate school districts. But, rest assured. They are working on it. That leaves the entire month of August to enjoy some Jersey Shore summertime events. Yes, even with COVID-19 still a concern, the Jersey Shore hosts some fun family-friendly events that allow for responsible social distancing.
Jersey Shore Summertime Events
Margate Farmers Market
Every Thursday morning, from 8:30 am to 12 pm, the Margate Farmers Market opens for business. Located in the parking lot at Monroe and Amherst, visitors find great selections of fruit, produce, meat, baked goods, and other yummy things. Steve & Cookies By the Bay offers some delicious homemade salad dressings. This partners well with the fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, etc. for your salad at dinner that night. Just saying. Fill yourself up with a delicious crepe, chase that down with a freshly prepared beverage, and find locally-sourced honey (always a good choice). The farmers market continues through September 3rd.
Thrilling Thursday Movies in Margate
You visited the farmers market on Thursday morning. What do you do for entertainment on Thursday night? How about a movie on the beach? Every week in August, the City hosts Thrilling Thursday on the beach behind Martin Bloom Pavilion. Starting at 7 pm, a different family-friendly movie plays. On August 6th, watch the 2019 live-action remake of the Disney classic “Aladdin” featuring Will Smith as Genie. August 13th’s features the action-packed “Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham. Kids are going to love “Frozen II” on August 20th (and so will you). And Star Wars fans get to geek out to “Solo: A Star Wars Story” for Thrilling Thursday’s final event on August 27th.
Ventnor Farmers Market
Can’t make the Margate market on Thursday morning? Visit the Ventnor Farmers Market on Friday morning instead. They take place from 8:30 am to 12 pm every Friday come rain (like this morning) or shine. You’ll find the market set up in the parking lot at Atlantic and Newport. Pick up the freshest of produce, specialty foods, baked goods, herbs, flowers, and handmade items from local vendors. Think global. Shop local. Visit your farmers market each week.
Ventnor City Summer Beach Jam
Don’t travel to Atlantic City casinos just to gamble your time away. Enjoy live music every weekend with your family at the Ventnor City Summer Beach Jam.
