Living in Atlantic City
Atlantic City is located on Absecon Island in Atlantic County. It is approximately 60 miles southeast of Philadelphia and about 100 miles south, southwest of New York. The City has a humid subtropical climate especially during the summer.
During this time, the city gets a sea breeze off the ocean that often makes daytime temperatures much cooler than inland areas, making it a prime place for beating the summer heat from June through September. Winters are cool, Spring and autumn are changeable, although they are typically mild with low humidity.
The City has also become a must-stop location for popular Jersey Shore events such as top concert, championship boxing, celebrity sightings, family-friendly Boardwalk Hall events, and offers an abundant of outdoor activities and entertainment: casinos, fishing, golfing, shopping, spas, and other water sports.
Atlantic City Schools
The educational system is served primarily by the Atlantic City School District. This encompasses ten elementary/middle schools and one high school.
In order to meet the needs of all students, the District is committed to increasing student learning and improving teaching in the core academic subjects by using instructional strategies aligned with the Common Core State Standards and based on scientifically based research. Parents will be active partners and key stakeholders with the School District to support their student’s intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.
